Pump Supplies – a leading national pump supplier – was employed by Andrew Scott Ltd, an award-winning construction and civil engineering contractor in Port Talbot.
Pump Supplies required generators to power their 12 inch pumps that were being used to divert the flow of the River Afan while remedial works took place.
The pumping systems were critical to ensure a continued supply of water to ABP Dock and a fresh water process supply to the local steelworks.
Aggreko provided three generators, providing enough capacity to power two large Flygt 12" pumps and some smaller Flygt 6" pumps, which were all required when the river water reached a certain level.
All three generators had Aggreko Remote Monitoring (ARM) fitted, meaning they were linked up to a central Remote Operating Centre, where experienced engineers continuously monitor each generator.
The ARM equipment was of particular importance to monitor the generators out of hours, to ensure they ran constantly, keeping the pumps working and therefore the river diverted to prevent disruption to the remedial works.
Aggreko has worked with Pump Supplies on many projects across South Wales for more than 25 years – providing generators to power their electric submersible pumps.
Due to the reactive nature of their business they demand a hire supplier that’s reliable and easy to work with, yet can provide additional technical support when required.
We have worked with the Aggreko team for a number of years, using their generators to power our pumps. Our relationship works well: they supply us with quality products so we can get on with our projects without need to be concerned about power requirements.Andrew John, Managing Director, Pump Supplies Ltd
