22 February 2013: Aggreko, the world leader in the supply of temporary power and temperature control solutions, has been acclaimed as one of the top performers in the events industry over the last 12 months, at the prestigious Total Production International (TPi) Awards 2013.
Aggreko was named Favourite Power Supply Company in recognition of the excellent service it provided as the Official Temporary Energy Services Supplier to the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The award was made during a glittering ceremony held at Novotel London West on 11th February.
It marked the completion of a successful 12 months in the UK events sector for Aggreko: the company also played pivotal support roles at a number of other major events, including BBC Radio One’s Big Weekend, Silverstone Formula One and Moto Grand Prix, the 2012 Hyde Park concerts (Barclaycard Wireless Festival, Madonna MDA tour and Hard Rock Calling), BT London Live, the Coca-Cola celebration concerts, as well as the Farnborough International Airshow and the BMW Open Golf Championship.
Bruce Pool, Managing Director – Aggreko Northern Europe, said: “We were honoured to have played a central role in supporting the execution of some truly memorable events during 2012, in particular the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, which allowed us to showcase the expertise of our UK operations on a global scale.
“As part of Aggreko’s service provision we offer turnkey power generation, climate control and electrical distribution to deliver temporary solutions specifically designed for the events sector. The combination of our broad experience and our extensive fleet has enabled us to successfully undertake such a wide variety of both indoor and outdoor events, and we are extremely proud that our peers have chosen to reward this work in such a public arena.”
Aiming to acknowledge and reward the achievements of individuals and service companies working within the events industry, the renowned TPi Awards use a confidential third-party nomination process, and only companies demonstrating the highest standards of service are shortlisted.
Ben Chadwick, Events Manager for the TPi Awards, said: “These awards are solely voted for by industry peers, so it is a real sign of recognition amongst your contemporaries to be awarded one. Aggreko's work throughout the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games was outstanding, and we were very pleased to be able to celebrate that achievement during the TPi Awards 2013.”
Under its contract to supply temporary energy services to the Games, Aggreko provided 260 MW of power using 550 generator sets, 1,500 kilometres of cable and 5,500 distribution panels across 39 venues. It was the biggest deployment of temporary power for a single sporting event ever in the UK.
