April 2012 - Aggreko, the global leader in temporary power and temperature solutions, provided the specialist equipment and expertise to power 13 temporary outdoor stages lining the route of Europe’s first Rock & Roll Half Marathon, which took place on 15th April in Edinburgh city centre.
Combining a long distance race with a music festival, the event saw 5,000 runners from 35 countries compete in a 13.5 mile route around the city centre with live music stages positioned at mile intervals.
Aggreko’s team of skilled engineers designed and implemented a temporary power solution to minimise disruption to people and traffic in the city centre. They installed and commissioned 16 diesel generators ranging from 30 kVA to 125 kVA with associated cabling along the route. The equipment was systematically decommissioned and removed from site as soon as each section of the route had been completed.
Aggreko has previously provided power solutions for a number of American Rock & Roll Marathon events.
