Aggreko moves into Russia
Aggreko moves into Russia
Following five years of supplying temporary power to western
companies working in Russia, Aggreko, the world leader in the
rental of power, temperature control systems, has established
offices inside Moscow.
To be known as Aggreko Eurasia, the new division based in Moscow
will supply temporary generator sets to locations across Russia.
The units ranging from 500kVA to 1250kVA are currently being
shipped to the new service centre and operations will be up and
running this summer.
The expansion has come as a result of demand from western
companies operating within the country. With Russia undergoing a
period of growth (the GDP has risen seven per cent in the last
year*), companies from outside of Russia have begun to build
manufacturing plants and retail centres to support the economy.
However, the local power networks cannot provide enough electricity
to meet the demands of these new developments so temporary power is
required.
Having worked with Aggreko in Europe and North America, many of
these companies have asked for temporary generators to be supplied
to their projects in Russia, enabling them to begin production and
trading as soon as possible. As a result of this, Aggreko has
already supplied 40MW of temporary power to projects across the
country.
Paul Brickman, the country manager for Russia, comments:
“Although we didn’t have an office in Russia, the global status of
Aggreko enabled the generator sets to be shipped in from Europe to
projects across the country. The move into Russia is a significant
step and one that is possible because of our existing global
presence and we have already built up a reputation in Russia as a
quality supplier.”
